The Gibson Explorer Guitar
With its angular body, and sharp headstock the Gibson Explorer is instantly recognisable.
First released by Gibson Electronic Musician Soundtrekjammer Professional 5 1958 (along with the equally famous Flying V guitar) the Explorer was a radical departure from its more famous sibling the Gibson Les Paul.
The original Explorer - the X-Plorer (or the Futura as it was initially named) came equipped with twin humbucker pickups, two tone controls and a 3 way pickup switch.
